Description
Kelp (Ascophyllum Nodosum) is an alga that belongs to the group of brown algae. It grows in "underwater forests" in shallow oceans at temperatures between 6 and 14C o and is known for its rapid growth rate - half a meter per day, reaching a length of 30 to 80 meters. There is evidence of the presence of brown seaweed in the diet of Asian crops thousands of years ago.
