This group of pests is extremely toxic to the central nervous system. Anyone with neurological sensitivities or similar symptoms is particularly sensitive to them. There are so many petroleum products out there that it is practically impossible to avoid them all. We can try to understand which ones we are most exposed to so that we can minimize our exposure where possible and take steps to heal and cleanse our bodies of the rest. Knowing what we are up against is an important step in being able to heal ourselves and support our bodies with what they need. If we turn a blind eye to the pests we are exposed to, we will be missing out on the opportunity to heal ourselves and even prevent future illness.
Petroleum products include:
- Carpet chemicals
- Chemical solvents, solutions and agents
- Diesel fuel
- Dioxins
- Machine oil and grease
- Exhaust gases
- Gas grills, stoves and ovens
- Gasoline
- Kerosene
- Lacquer
- Lighter fluid
- Paints
- Paint thinner
- Plastics
Let's take a brief look at some of these pests. Read more about each of them in Anthony William's book "Help for the Liver" .
Exhaust fumes are the most common pest you encounter. Exposure occurs when you walk down the street, pick up a package from a delivery van while it's still running, get stuck in traffic on your way to work, walk past a mowed lawn or mow your own, walk to a restaurant for lunch just as someone starts a car a few feet away, etc. Although carbon monoxide is deadly if someone is poisoned by it when there's not enough ventilation for the exhaust fumes, it's not the poison that gets into the liver. It's the petrochemical particles in the exhaust fumes themselves that get into the liver.
Imagine a world covered in dust, too fine to see, that is inhaled and consumed by every living thing on the planet. That is our world, and dioxins are that "dust." These pollutants, a byproduct of over 100 years of chemical plant abuse, find their way into our air, water, and food. Modern life is a living embodiment of dioxin exposure.
Carpet chemicals include chemicals used to treat new carpets during their manufacturing, chemicals released from old carpets during cleaning, and the carpet cleaning chemicals themselves. We breathe in carpet chemicals, and they also get on our skin and clothes when we sit on carpets or walk on them barefoot.
