Let's take a look at how some of the key ingredients in this Portobello Mushroom Stew can provide healing support:

Mushrooms: Contains hundreds of undiscovered phytochemical compounds, many of which detoxify the liver without harming it. Mushrooms are medicine for the liver. Many people fear mushrooms because they believe that their fungal origin means that they feed the fungus in the body. It's the exact opposite. A fungus is a fungus that destroys fungi, and the liver accepts fungi as allies - if your liver is fighting unwanted microorganisms such as fungus, mushrooms are very helpful in pushing them out of the liver. Mushrooms also reduce fungi, bacteria and viruses in the intestinal tract, allowing cleaner nutrients and cleaner blood to enter the liver.

Potatoes: They are rich in amino acids, which specifically suppress the growth of viruses. Potatoes are high in glucose, which provides nutrients for the liver, as it is what the liver relies on to keep itself strong. It also helps build up glycogen stores, the resource that protects us from blood sugar problems, weight gain, fatty liver and dirty blood syndrome. Potatoes keep the liver grounded and stable, which ensures a healthy body. While some people shun potatoes because of their vegetable origin, they actually have the ability to help with many varieties of chronic ailments.

Onions: Much like garlic, onions have antimicrobial sulfur compounds that flush out unfriendly pathogens from the liver. Onions have a disinfecting effect on the liver, protecting it from inflammation. It also improves the liver's temperature control or "thermostat" so that it can heat and cool properly.

Ingredients:

  • 1 onion, coarsely chopped;
  • 2 stalks celery stalks, chopped;
  • 1 kg. coarsely chopped Portobello mushrooms, stems removed;
  • 4 cloves of garlic, crushed;
  • 2 carrots, coarsely chopped;
  • 1 1/2 kg. potatoes, roughly chopped;
  • 2 tbsp. fresh thyme leaves;
  • 1 tbsp. chopped fresh rosemary;
  • 3 cups of water or broth "Help for the liver" ;
  • 1 tbsp. pure tomato puree (find one without additives);
  • 2 tbsp. arrowroot starch plus 3 tbsp. cold water, for thickening (optional);
  • A little chopped fresh parsley, for garnish.

Method of preparation:

Place a large ceramic non-stick pot on the stove over medium-high heat and add the onion. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes until softened, adding a spoonful of water as needed. Add the stalked celery and cook for another 2 minutes. Add the mushrooms and cook until softened and browned, about 5-7 minutes. Then add the garlic, carrots, potatoes, thyme and rosemary. Stir well. Add the Liver Aid water or broth and tomato puree and bring to a boil. Leave the pot uncovered and cook for another 15 to 20 minutes, until the potatoes and carrots are tender.

If necessary, mix the arrowroot starch and cold water in a small bowl to make a slurry. Pour the mixture into the stew and stir well. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the stew thickens. Remove from heat and serve sprinkled with fresh parsley.

Portion for 4-6 people.
