The medical community has never considered prolonged flu as a problem. By "prolonged flu," Anthony William understands cases where someone contracts the flu virus, develops a high fever, becomes ill, and then has a very difficult time recovering from this condition for a long period of time. Instead of recovering quickly, they are sick, tired, and physically exhausted for months and sometimes years after the flu. Medicine has no long-term treatment for the flu. Prolonged flu has existed for decades and all this time has remained hidden from the medical community.
Persistent influenza is caused when a latent non-influenza virus or several viruses already dormant within a person are triggered by a viral infection with the influenza virus, which lowers that person's already weakened immune system to its limits. For example, a weakened immune system from influenza can allow EBV, which is already in the body, to reactivate. Millions of people around the world have experienced this type of illness after the flu.
Medical research and science (both alternative and conventional) are unaware of the connection between the flu as a trigger for another, latent virus that causes persistent symptoms after the flu infection clears. They are unaware of either part – the presence of the underlying herpes virus (such as EBV or herpes) or the flu as a trigger for that underlying virus that causes chronic symptoms after a flu infection. Because the medical community does not understand the long-term symptoms of the flu, it is common for someone who struggles with these symptoms after a flu to end up with an autoimmune diagnosis. Or if they already had an autoimmune diagnosis before the flu, they may develop more symptoms or more severe symptoms after the flu and end up with an additional autoimmune diagnosis.
Some flu treatments have been a constant trigger for decades, meaning a trigger for viruses like EBV to reactivate, which in turn leads to the onset or recurrence of neurological symptoms and conditions. They have left people struggling with neurological symptoms as their viruses have been reactivated, leading to inflammation of the brain and nervous system. This has been completely ignored by both conventional and alternative medical circles. Medical research and science have not had post-flu symptoms and conditions on their radar.
What has been recognized recently is the term “prolonged Covid” (also called long Covid). We are entering an era where a significant percentage of the population will suffer from both prolonged Covid and post-Covid treatments that will cause chronic inflammation of the brain and lower the immune system. Like some annual flu treatments, some Covid-19 treatments will reactivate internal viruses in patients, which will create symptoms very similar to the diagnosis of prolonged Covid itself.
This means that there are people who will get sick with Covid-19 and then not recover properly due to internal viral inflammation from another, underlying virus, such as EBV, that was caused by Covid-19, lowering their immune system, allowing EBV to reactivate. This is diagnosed as “prolonged Covid” or sometimes as “prolonged Covid with reactivated EBV” – when in fact the reactivated EBV or other herpes virus should be the main focus because it is this EBV or other herpes virus that is causing the persistent symptoms that are mistaken for “prolonged Covid”. Some treatments for Covid-19 will do something similar, lowering the immune system, keeping the immune system distracted, thinning and overloading the immune system so that it is unable to watch out for other threats in the body. As a result, the immune system will completely ignore the real, bigger threats inside the body, such as the herpes viruses present that are creating inflammation in the brain.
