In medical circles, they have never seen prolonged flu as a problem. By "prolonged flu," Anthony William understands cases where someone gets infected with the flu virus, develops a high fever, gets sick, and then for a long period of time it is quite difficult for him to get out of this state. Instead of recovering quickly, he is sick, tired and physically debilitated for months and sometimes years after the flu. Medicine does not have a long-term treatment for the flu. The lingering flu has been around for decades, and all that time it has remained hidden from the medical community.
Persistent influenza is caused when a hidden non-influenza virus or several that are already lying dormant inside a person are triggered by the influenza virus infection, which lowers that person's already weakened immune system to its limits. For example, a weakened immune system from the flu can allow EBV that is already in the body to reactivate. Millions of people around the world have experienced this type of illness after the flu.
Medical studies and science (both alternative and conventional) are unaware of the flu's connection as a trigger for another, hidden virus that causes lasting symptoms after the flu infection clears. They don't realize either part - the presence of the underlying herpes virus (such as EBV or herpes) or the flu as a trigger for that underlying virus causing the chronic symptoms after a flu infection. Because the medical community doesn't understand the lingering symptoms of the flu, it's often the case that someone struggling with them after a flu season ends up with an autoimmune diagnosis. Or if he already had an autoimmune diagnosis before the flu, after the flu he may develop more symptoms or more severe symptoms and end up with an additional autoimmune diagnosis.
Certain types of flu treatment have been persistent triggers for decades, meaning a trigger for reactivation of viruses such as EBV, which in turn leads to the onset or recurrence of neurological symptoms and conditions. They have left behind people struggling with neurological symptoms as their viruses have been reactivated, leading to inflammation of the brain and nervous system. This has been completely ignored by both the conventional and alternative medical circles. Medical research and science do not have post-flu symptoms and conditions on their radar.
What has been recognized recently is the term “prolonged covid” (also called long covid). We are entering an era where a significant percentage of the population will suffer from both prolonged covid and post-covid treatments that will cause chronic brain inflammation and lower immune systems. Like some annual flu treatments, some covid-19 treatments will reactivate internal viruses in patients that will create symptoms very similar to a lingering covid diagnosis itself.
This means that there are people who will get sick with covid-19 and then not recover properly due to internal viral inflammation from another, underlying virus, such as EBV, which was caused by covid-19, lowering their immune system. allowing the EBV to reactivate. This is diagnosed as "persistent covid" or sometimes as "persistent covid with reactivated EBV" - when in fact the reactivated EBV or other herpes virus should be the main focus because it is this EBV or other herpes virus that is causing the persistent symptoms that are misunderstood for "prolonged covid". Some covid-19 treatments will do something similar, lowering the immune system by keeping the immune system distracted, thinning and overloading the immune system so that it is unable to watch out for other threats in the body. As a result, the immune system will completely ignore the real, bigger threats inside the body, such as the herpes viruses present that create inflammation in the brain.
