Cinnamon & Vanilla Cantaloupe Smoothie

Смути от пъпеш с канела и ванилия

Ripe cantaloupe is delicious on its own, but made into a creamy, icy smoothie with some vanilla and cinnamon, the flavor is simply amazing! A cantaloupe is truly ripe and ready to cut when it gives off a stronger sweet aroma and the rind is not as hard when pressed.

The high content of vitamin C in cantaloupe is crucial for maintaining the immune system and fighting bacterial and viral infections. Melon is an excellent helper to ease nerves and calm anxiety. It is known to maintain a normal and regulated heart rhythm under stress, as well as keep muscles relaxed, free from spasms and hypertension.

The rich content of vitamin A and beta-carotene in the melon helps to reduce the risk of cataracts and maintain healthy vision. Cantaloupe also helps the body excrete excess sodium, which helps reduce water retention and bloating.

Cinnamon has the highest antioxidant power of any food source and is several hundred times stronger than any fruit or vegetable. Cinnamon is especially helpful for diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, flatulence, and arthritis. It is also very useful for lowering cholesterol and helping to regulate blood sugar.

Vanilla has a calming effect on the nervous system and is an effective treatment for anxiety and stress. Just the scent of vanilla beans has been proven to increase feelings of relaxation and happiness. One of the main medicinal compounds in vanilla beans is called vanillin, which in small doses is known to significantly aid digestion, reduce headaches and relieve upset stomachs.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cantaloupe melon, peeled, deseeded and coarsely chopped;
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon;
  • 1 tsp ice;
  • Seeds from 1/2 vanilla pod or 1/2 tsp. alcohol-free vanilla extract;
  • 1-2 tbsp. raw honey (optional, but recommended if your melon is not very sweet).

Method of preparation:

Place the cantaloupe, vanilla, cinnamon, raw honey and ice in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve.
